I see myself as an open-minded free thinker. An independent and an agnostic. Wow! To think I used to classify myself as a spiritually strong brother!

Questioning Apostates
I recently read a post in which a man who was married for 27 years was on
the verge of a divorce from his wife because she claims he is an apostate.
The apostasy was because he showed her the history of the Watchtower
Society. Why is it that some individuals can accept the true history of the Watch-
tower while others remain in total denial?Drawing Conclusions
My best friend could not accept any of the evidence concerning the United
Nations. With the documents both from the United Nations and the Watch-
tower he still could not be convinced that the Watchtower was involved
in anything wrong. I have drawn up a conclusion regarding this issue:Individuals in the organization do not want to believe they were duped.
It may raise questions and even doubts about "God's organization."
The brainwashing is just that intense.
They do not want to deal with any issues of negativity. It seems to me that even if you question the Watchtower Society you will
be looked down upon and if you continue in your quest you will be consider-
ed an apostate.
Any thoughts regarding this?Respectfully,

Securities
Do you recall being in the organization at various times
when they would have certain articles either in the King-
dom ministry or in the Watchtower calling for donations?Real estate, wills, trusts, stocks, bonds and mutual funds?
Personally, I knew many of the friends who gave whole
heartedly to the organization.Donations
The reason I brought up this topic is because many of the
individuals on this board helped make the Watchtower Society
a wealthy organization.Through, books, bibles and magazine sales. Through, building
projects and a host of different ways, I probably could not even
fathom.Challenging the Donations
At one time, I was considering leaving the Watchtower a number
of investments until I learned what type of organization it really
amounted to.However, I was wondering what could a person do if close
relations have it in their will to leave the Society vast sums
of securities and you know what this organization is truly about?Could an individual challenge the will? Does anybody have any
experience regarding this issue or know of someone who did?Respectfully,

The Hope
Promises of everlasting life in paradise earth are held
out to the newly associated individuals. Photographs,
graphic images and artistry which help support the
scriptural understandings of the organization are used
constantly to reaffirm the beliefs. The People
Individuals who for the most part, seem to be quite whole-
some and very interested in seeing you progress to the
point of baptism. It seems by all accounts that there is a
true international organization seeking to do God's will. The Organization
It seems to be an organization that strives to carry out
God's will. Individuals hold the organization as God's true
channel of communication and obey its direction unquestion-
ably, even in the face of death. The Reality
In the beginning it seems very exciting that God has a master
plan that you can become apart of. It is very understandable
how an individual can fall for this "sales pitch." Because most
people with good motivation want and hope for the best. The Aftermath
Once an individual discovers that he or she has been duped for
as many as 10, 20, 30 or more years, it can become a devast-
ating blow that may require years of psychotherapy.- Your education was put on hold because the "end is near."
- You do not marry and have a family because "we should be pioneering
in this time of the end." - You do not follow your dreams or a career path because finding sheep
like ones takes on all importance.
I cannot help feeling absolutely stupid and embarrassed and entirely
uncomfortable to mention that I was once one of Jehovah's Witnesses.Would anybody like to share any additional thoughts?
Respectfully,

I would like to take the time to thank you all for the exceptional advice. I will study, learn and branch out now and in the near future.
For the time being, I will take it slow.
Thank you all once again,

Watchtower Camaraderie
After having spent years as one of Jehovah's Witnesses
I must admit that one of the most difficult issues that I
have had to face was the loss of close friends. To a certain degree one of the things I miss the most
was the social interaction with the "brothers." How does
a person go from having all Jehovah's Witness friends
one day and then have absolutely no one to call a friend
the next day?Going back to the Organization
A person would have to be insane to even consider
the remote possibility to go back to the organization;
after having done a historical background check on
the Watchtower Society. It crossed my mind once or
twice but I could never seriously entertain such
thoughts.Picking up the Pieces
What drove me out of the organization in the first
place was the Watchtower Society's fiasco with the
United Nations. I felt I had no choice but to pack my
bags after months of research concerning this issue. However, I now have a new set of problems with which
to deal with outside of my nice, cozy structured life and
that is learning how to deal with it all.Asking for a Helping Hand
After observing this site in silence for months, it occurred
to me that there must be individuals who have suffered
the serious set backs of loneliness after having left the
"Watchtower World." I would really be interested to find
out how you have dealt with this issue of isolation? Can anyone, give me advice regarding getting my life
back to normal outside of the"Watchtower World." I would
certainly be grateful.Respectfully,

Suppressing Doubts
by The wanderer inhaving been one of jehovah's witnesses for the better part of fourteen years and then having left the organization after having discovered the watchtower society's involve- ment with the united nations has left me second guessing myself.
often times, i ask myself why?-why?
did i not listen to my "gut feelings" when i held certain doubts about the organization?

The wanderer
Thank you all for your advice, viewpoints and perspectives on the matter.
Admittedly, I have a long way to go regarding my former life. One thing I have noticed is that the brainwashing propaganda "sticks" with you even after you have left the organization. Many thanks, The Wanderer

Many times, I would hear some negative news about the Watchtower Society and then I would just suppress it or tune it out of my mind. Anything negative would be automatically dispatched.
I am a newbie to this board and I would love to hear from some of you whether or not this is quite common or just something I personally experienced.
Lots of Love.
